Credit: Kazuyo HorieDef Leppard recently canceled a series of concerts with Styx this month, reportedly because frontman Joe Elliott was dealing with some vocal issues, but now the band has lined up a major North American tour that also will feature REO Speedwagon on most dates. The 50-plus-date trek kicks off on May 1 with a previously announced performance at the Moonstone Festival in Orlando, Florida, and is plotted out all the way through an October 10 show in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Styx will be featured on a few of the early May dates, while REO Speedwagon will join the trek starting with a May 10 show in Bossier City, Louisiana. Tesla will be the opening act at nearly all of the concerts. Some of the May shows will be makeup dates for Def Leppard’s canceled February gigs.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out there and playing some great music with some great people for some of the most appreciative audiences in the world,” Elliott says in a statement. “It really is always a pleasure.”

Adds REO Speedwagon singer Kevin Cronin, “We played some shows with Def Leppard in 2008 and it was an amazing musical marriage, a melodic rock extravaganza. We are ready to restart that fire in 2016.”

Tickets for most of the shows will go on sale to the general public beginning this Friday, March 4, via
