A 1968 Monkees gem called “As We Go Along” is part of an eclectic variety of songs featured on the Golden Globe-winning film Lady Bird‘s soundtrack, which was released digitally today and will be available on CD on Friday, February 2. The album also will be issued as a two-LP vinyl set on Friday, March 16, while a double-disc colored-vinyl edition will be sold exclusively by Barnes & Noble.
“As We Go Along” originally appeared on the soundtrack to the 1968 Monkees film Head. It was written by Carole King and her frequent collaborator Toni Stern.
The Lady Bird soundtrack also features the Alanis Morissette hit “Hand in My Pocket,” Dave Matthews Band‘s “Crash into Me” and tunes by ex-Velvet Underground member John Cale, Scottish new-wave act Altered Images and ’60s psychedelic folk-rockers Love. In addition, the album features audio snippets of dialogue from the film.
